Rolling Thursday, February 28th  7PM @ Central Cinema $10 or FREE with STIFF 2007 Badge   Utilizing the form of a docudrama, cinema verite style footage entwines with personal testimonials rendering a fictional chronicle, which captures the appeal of the drug Ecstasy. The film follows a diverse group of users as they cross paths in Los Angeles. At its core, Rolling is an investigation into a generation's drug of choice. It is a dramatized expose of the current state of a cultural phenomenon that has grown tremendously over the past two decades. Rolling simultaneously authenticates a specifically twisted consciousness while relating to a broad audience with an eye for detail and human behavior. The film uses a variety of formats (35mm, super 16mm and DV) giving it an unusual texture while maintaining an overall gritty and realistic tone. In doing so, the filmmakers have carefully constructed a new style that hopes to stimulate discussion while regaling the senses. It provides the viewer direct access to the roller coaster of incidents that often occur to an Ecstasy user. Rolling is an engrossing, provocative, and poignant cinematic manifestation of the journey one has while on the drug. It is a bold and visceral experience that brings to light one of the most prolific drug phenomena of our time.

Upcoming Dates and Deadlines

Upcoming Extended Deadline - March 1st

The blogging has slowed down a bit.  My apologies.  This doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been anything going on with the festival. It just means that we have been pretty busy shoring up a lot of wonderful details which pushes blogging to the lower end of the priority scale.  Many of us have been going into overdrive watching films and with the final deadline coming up on March 1^st, we are beginning to get some idea of what the program will look like.  All I can say is that I am really excited.   STIFF is going to be unleashing some incredible films upon Seattle, but there is still a week left before the final deadline and our Program Director Brian Shelley has been doing a great job keeping the team on track to make sure that every film gets watched by at least 3 screeners.  If you want to be included this year, make sure to have your submission post marked before March 1^st so we can consider it.  Every year, when SIFF announces their program we get a deluge of emails and phone calls from filmmakers letting us know that they have been rejected by SIFF and wanting us to consider their films for our program.  Sadly, we always have to tell the filmmakers to submit the following year because our programs go to print at about the same time as SIFF.  March 1st is our last deadline which means that ALL submissions need to be postmarked by March 1st.

March 1^st is also the upcoming artwork contest deadline.  We have had a few submissions and a few other folks tell us that they are submitting.  If you are thinking about doing it, please get us your stuff by March 1^st.  Grand Prize is $300 and pair of badges to STIFF 2008.  Click Here For More Info!

STIFF 2008 Pub Crawl
Many of you have come to the annual STIFF Pub crawl in Freemont where we unveil our T-shirt design and celebrate with a roving party.  Freemont is a blast, but this year, we will be moving the pub Crawl to Capitol Hill.  Clear your calendar on Saturday April 12^th from the afternoon through the evening and keep checking back here for more info on the bar lineup and drink specials.
